Cowboy Action Shooting
CAS is a celebration of the Old West. Shootists adopt a period alias, dress in western costume, and shoot single action revolvers, pistol caliber lever action rifles, and side by side shotguns. The reactive steel targets are large and close, but can still be missed. Shooting is on the clock with penalties for misses and procedural errors. We stage six shoots per year. The main objective of our group is fun. Contact Richard Dickman, phone 973-8759 or Bob Ziegler, phone 990-4223. See our web site: tinyurl.com/cowboyaction for details and schedule.
We had such a great time at last year’s “March Madness” that we thought that we should do that again on March 12. Maybe this will become the annual shoot to kick off the season. Doc Sawdust has tuned the scenarios a little bit to remove the pitfalls and give the shooter a little more choices. Setup starts at 8:30 am, followed by a safety meeting at 9:30, and the shooting begins at 10:00am. (NOTE THE TIME CHANGES.) Cost is $10 for RRPC members and $15 for non-members.
The public is invited to come out and observe- and we’ll even let you shoot a few rounds down range using our guns and ammo. Bring your own eye and ear protection.
