Rivanna Rimfire Steel Plate Shooting
The Rivanna Rifle & Pistol Club "Rimfire Steel Plate Matches" are designed to be easy, fun, safe and affordable for shooters of all ages and experience levels.
Matches include both 22LR Rifle & Handgun stages, and the competition is open to all safe and responsible individuals who can legally own or handle a firearm in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
A typical shooting stage is set up with 5 to 6 steel plates at distances of 20 feet to 30 yards. You will shoot one shot on each plate and the time will stop when the last plate is hit. This string of fire will be shot 5 times by each competitor, with the slowest time thrown out.
Matches will be held on the 100 Yard Rifle Range, on the 4th Saturday of the month. Registration will begin at 9am and the safety orientation and match will run from 10am until 3pm.
- $10 for ages 13 and up
- $5 for ages 12 and under
- $20 maximum per family
Our first matches will have 3 shooting stages that can be shot with a handgun or rifle or both. All repeating firearm styles are allowed (except full auto).
If all you have is a semi-auto .22lr pistol or a lever action rifle, bring what you have and have a good time. The club will also have both rifles & pistols available for participants to use if desired.
These matches are designed to be fun for the whole family, so kids, bring your parents along! This a great event for beginner shooters, and will be a challenge for the experienced competitor too.
So – if you have a .22LR rifle or handgun in your safe or in the closet collecting dust, now you have another reason to clean it and bring it to the range.
